Have you ever wondered if the ants in the jungle ever ask themselves, “Hey, where IS everybody?”
It’s a huge place. Generations of ants go by without ever meeting humans.
So in their mind, humans don’t exist.
It’s sort of like the Fermi Paradox… the apparent contradiction between the high probability of alien civilizations in the universe and the lack of scientific evidence for such civilizations, let alone making contact with them.
But my point isn’t about UFOs or ants.
It’s about perspective… specifically when it comes to artificial intelligence.
To an ant in the Amazon, there is no human civilization. It has a very limited perspective.
They don’t know about the existence of cities, aquariums, or people. Their entire existence is confined to water currents and the immediate environment around them.
You and I are the same. We both have a unique perspective as professionals who’ve encountered an massive number of unique experiences (both personal and professional).
You’ve worked for a decade, two or maybe three in your chosen field. For me, some of my work has been as a solo professional, some of it traditionally employed.
And it’s that perspective that makes me valuable to you, my client.
Yes, the writing matters. I understand you want good writing. But I believe you also want a good thinker… my strategy and ideas. And my unique perspective.
In a world where AI and LLMs can spit out content and do all the grunt work in seconds that used to take us hours, what’s left is our perspective.
Our judgment. Our discernment. Our sense of taste. Our emotions.
Our humanity.
Our ability to connect with another person — to feel, empathize, collaborate and communicate.
And above all, our imagination. The ability to dream and imagine… the ability to see what is not yet there.
That’s why it’s so important to value perspective. To recognize the unique blend of experiences, emotions, and thoughts that shape how you see the world.
And to truly harness the power of that perspective — from my own perspective as a copywriter and copyeditor — you must also cultivate empathy for your prospects and clients.
You need to understand and appreciate the perspectives of others and let those perspectives enrich your own.
Because that’s what allows for genuine connection, meaningful collaboration, and positive changes in your business.
And AI tools aren’t able to do those things.
Personally, I’m glad about that. So while I may use AI tools as an aid to my writing, I do not use them as a one-and-done approach. The main ways I utilize AI writing tools are to brainstorm some ideas, help with structure, or checking for readability.
I’ll never have ChatGPT spit out something and send it to you immediately afterward as my own work.
Your business is too important for that.
